Fuukei Brown
Naomi Ito is a Japanese designer for Kokka fabrics. From her 2009 Nani Iro collection is this truly gorgeous work of abstract art on fabric. This print features an abstract tulip flowers and shapes on a dark natural background of linen and cotton. Colours are white/ black/brown/slightly metallic gold. The largest tulip is 17cm tall and the design repeats every 60cm.
This Japanese fabric is 55% linen and 45% cotton and is 108cm or 42" wide. It feels slightly heavier than the 100% cotton fabrics we carry (like linen feels) and is perfect for clothing, bags and some home décor projects – it would make a lovely table cloth. Many simple free designer patterns, in her fabrics, can be found on her website (in Japanese though!). Modern Retro Textiles will also be selling limited quantities of Nani Iro’s book, ‘Colourful Cloth’, available in Jun/Jul 2009.
